At a meeting of the Council for Physical Culture and Sports, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the new strategy for the development of physical culture and sports for the period up to 2030 should provide for support measures in the event of force majeure restrictions in the future.
The head of state noted that during the coronavirus pandemic in Russia and in the world, thousands of sports events were canceled, and the forced restrictions on gyms and clubs "felt both citizens and professional athletes, and sports organizations and business."
“In the new strategy for the development of physical culture and sports, it is imperative to provide for measures that, in the event of such force majeure circumstances, will help people to maintain physical activity, support stadiums, sports clubs, sections, and, of course, will not allow the training process of our national teams to fail,” he said. According to the president, the new strategy should focus on creating conditions for the intensive development of mass sports, the appropriate infrastructure in schools and universities, at the place of work and residence.
